Status in captivity : The species is not uncommon in Asian zoos but hardly bred. Only one zoo showcases it out of Asia (in Europe) but the subspecies is unidentified. This subspecies is only shown in zoos around Malaysia and no breeding occurs.
Remarks : Many specimens, including a white-colored one, are displayed in awfull concrete cages located in the old small-mammals building.
