Status in captivity : The species isn't common in captivity but is seen in a few zoos, mainly in central and Eastern Europe and Asia. Breeding occurs rarely. This subspecies isn't shown anywhere outside Indonesia.
Remarks : A single, very old, specimen was kept until 2008 in one of the glass cages of the small mammals building.
